:: About conference

Dear colleagues,
We are incredibly pleased to inform you that the 5th Iranian Mycological Congress will take place in Tabriz, on September 26 - 28.
The IMyC5 will be organized by the Iranian Mycological Society (IMS) and University of Tabriz. The congress will provide excellent opportunity to bring together scientists and students in the field of mycology and related sciences from Iran and other countries. During the event, latest advances and progress in the different aspects of mycology (including: Biodiversity and Molecular Taxonomy, Phylogeny, Evolution, Fungal interactions (Pathogens and Symbionts), Secondary Metabolites, Antifungal Compounds, Fungal Biotechnology, etc.) will be presented by the invited speakers.
The venue, Tabriz, is the capital of East Azerbaijan province, in the Azerbaijan region of Iran. It is a modern industrialized Iranian city with signs of civilization dating back 2,500 years. Having some of the most famous museums, major cultural events, and prestigious Iranian universities, the city is considered a major hub for science and culture in Iran.
Tabriz has a long and checkered history. Although the early history of Tabriz is shrouded in legend and mystery, the town's origins are believed to date back to distant antiquity, perhaps even before the Sassanian era (224-651 ACE). The oldest stone tablet with a reference to Tabriz is that of Sargon II, the Assyrian king. The tablet refers to a place called Tauri Castle and Tarmkis.
During the congress, an excursion program will be planned to go around Tabriz and visit the historical areas of the city.

With best wishes,
Managing committee
